Why Adopt-A-Pet Was Created:

Adopt-A-Pet was created in 1997 to promote the adoption of shelter animals and save homeless animals'lives. To put it simply, there are too many animals and not enough homes. Millions of adoptable companion animals are euthanized (humanely put to death) in shelters across the nation every year because of the companion animal overpopulation crisis. Puppy mills (factory-like breeding facilities), "backyard" breeders, and accidental litters all contribute to this tragedy by bringing more animals into the world when there aren't enough homes for the ones who are here already. We try to place these animals in foster homes until we can find them good, loving permanent homes.
There are now several websites that are serving as search engines to locate adoptable animals through the internet. In light of this, we have decided that our next phase of work is to serve our local community as deeply as we can, focusing mainly in the Omaha area and then throughout Nebraska.
Our Mission The mission of Adopt-A-Pet is to promote the adoption of homeless companion animals. Adopt-A-Pet is committed to helping all dogs and cats in need of homes, and to making sure that the people get matched with a dog or cat that is right for them. If you do not see a dog or cat that suits you on our Dog and Cat picture pages, please see our Links page for a lists of other organizations that rescue dogs and/or cats.
If you are interested in adopting from Adopt-A-Pet please fill out the form on our main page and available pets will be sent to you via e-mail, or feel free to give us a call at (402)555-1234.
